How Low Frequency EMFs May Help (or Harm) the Body

Exposure to low doses of EMF may be helpful when used therapeutically, but that’s not the full story…

The Schumann Frequency (7.83Hz)

Let’s start with the Schumann frequency. 

Earth is and always has been surrounded by ultra-low electromagnetic fields, known as the “Schumann frequency.”

Essentially, this 7.83Hz frequency is the “vibration” that links all living organisms. 

Unlike the artificial EMFs emitted by smartphones, tablets, electrical appliances, and power lines, the Schumann frequency may be therapeutic.

How do Artificial EMFs Work at a Cellular Level?

While Earth’s natural frequency may help you feel balanced and relaxed, the same can’t necessarily be said for artificial E-smog.

And while EMF radiation is still difficult to measure and keep track of in the long term, we do have an idea of how microwave (EMF) radiation may harm the human body.

To understand the effects, we need to take a much closer look at what may be happening when you’re exposed to E-smog.

Extensive research into the effects of EMF on a cellular level has shown that E-smog may act through voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCC).

Essentially, VGCC are “tunnels” that exist within the 37 trillion cells within your body.

Those channels normally remain closed unless they’re opened naturally. In their natural function, VGCCs play a critical role in neurotransmitter release, muscle contraction, and cardiac action potentials (electrical spikes in cellular activity), among others.

The trouble is, microwave EMF radiation may open those VGCC channels.

Martin Pall, Professor Emeritus of biochemistry at Washington State University, noted in his research of VGCCs that low frequency EMFs may have therapeutic effects with targeted use.

More specifically, low doses of targeted EMF may stimulate nitric oxide production in the body—a key antioxidant. 

The Potentially Harmful Effects of EMF

On the other hand, Pall’s research showed the potential for harm to the body due to the overstimulation of voltage-gated calcium channels.

First, VGCC overstimulation may lead to oxidative stress via the production of oxidants called peroxynitrites.

In brief, oxidative stress causes damage to your cells if free radicals (unstable cells within your body) overwhelm your body’s ability to fight them with antioxidants.

According to a separate study, oxidative stress can lead to a variety of severe health effects…

So, not only is there a link between oxidative stress and potentially life-threatening medical issues…
